Volunteers are the heart of Union County Habitat for Humanity. Hundreds of people volunteer with us each year. Union County Habitat invites individuals and groups from faith institutions, corporations, schools and community groups to work towards ensuring that all Union County residents have a safe, decent, affordable home.
There are many ways that you can get involved and we are always looking for good volunteers. We have opportunities in our ReStore, on Habitat building sites, with our recycling program and in our offices.
On Habitat construction sites we begin our day at 8:00 am and work until about 5:00pm. You will need to bring a bag lunch or $5.00 to purchase your lunch at a local restaurant as we cannot provide a meal for you during the day. We work Tuesday through Saturday on the construction sites although many of our volunteers can only come out on Saturdays.
Habitat has tools available so you will not need to bring anything with you. If you prefer to bring your own tools you are free to do so, at your own risk. We will ask you to sign a waiver of liability form when you arrive on the site. You must be at least 14 years of age to volunteer on a Habitat construction site due to NC and OSHA regulations. You must be 18 years old in order to handle power tools or be on the roof.
