Union County Habitat for Humanity is a Christian, non-profit organization
that builds homes for lower-income families in Union County, NC. We build
safe, affordable homes for families who could not otherwise afford home
ownership. Union County Habitat transforms lives and our community by
uniting all Union County residents around the cause of decent, affordable
housing for everyone.
Founded in 1991 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Union Habitat builds all over Union County. We complete about 5 houses a year.
We build the homes with the “sweat equity” of our family partner homeowners who work side-by-side with volunteers. Professional contractors help us build parts of our home to code, and the volunteers do the rest. Each year, several hundred volunteers from faith institutions, corporations, schools and civic groups come to build with us and learn more about how to help solve Union County’s affordable housing crisis.
In addition to building homes, Union Habitat is a leading advocate for affordable housing. Our goal is to ensure that every Union County resident has a decent, affordable home. If you would like to be a part of this mission give us a call! We can get you plugged in right away.
